Licensed Builders you can trust
Quality and safety are paramount for all Solvd construction projects. As LBPs, our builders have been assessed as competent to carry out or supervise Residential Building Work (RBW) essential for ensuring a house is structurally sound and weathertight.
If the work does not require a building consent, it is not RBW. However, most residential building projects in Auckland will include Restricted Building Work, such as (but not limited to):
- Building work for Foundations
- Subfloor Framing
- Floors
- Walls (framing, brick/block, internal linings)
- Roofs
- Columns, Beams, Bracing
What is Residential Building Work?
RBW is building or design work that is critical to the integrity of a building. I.e. construction, alteration or design work requiring a Building Consent, that also affects a home’s primary structure or the external moisture management systems. And for design work, the fire safety systems as well. Learn more about Restricted Building Work (MBIE LBP website).
Assessed, Registered & ethical Builders
Solvd also has LBPs with separate licence classes for their specific role or type of work (also known as Area of Practice or AoP):
- Site (Coordinating & overseeing construction/alterations)
- Design
- Carpentry
- Roofing
- Bricklaying & Blocklaying
- External Plastering
- Foundations
Solvd LBPs are assessed before getting a licence and to be re-licenced, have to keep their skills and knowledge of regulatory and technical changes, up to date. They’re also accountable to the Building Practitioners Board, including to only work within the Practitioner’s area of competence. The Board can take disciplinary action against LBPs who behave unprofessionally (e.g. issue fines or cancel licences).
For added peace of mind, Solvd Licensed Building Practitioners can show you their licence ID (digital licence or physical ID card) and you can check their details in the online MBIE public LBP register.
Code of Ethics
Solvd LBPs comply with a Government Code of Ethics for Licensed Building Practitioners, which ensures high industry standards are maintained. The Code of Ethics is also aligned with international best practices.
The 19 Standards within the Code, come under four key principles:
- Work safely
- Comply with the law
- Take responsibility for your actions
