We’ve partnered with some of Auckland’s best architects, interior designers and engineers. They’re small to medium-sized firms, chosen for their talent, their lower overheads and the personal attention they give every client. It’s the same way we work.

What our design partners cover
- Architectural design: concept designs, floor plans and full building consent drawings for renovations, extensions and new builds
- Interior design: layouts, finishes and colour schemes for homes and commercial spaces
- Structural engineering: beam and foundation design, removing load-bearing walls, and producer statements (PS1 and PS4)
- Consent support: preparing and lodging building consent applications with Auckland Council and responding to council requests
Why design and build together
When the designer and builder work as one team, problems get Solvd on paper instead of on site. Our builders review designs early, so what’s drawn can be built on budget. And because Solvd stays involved from the first sketch to the final coat of paint, nothing gets lost between the design and the build.
Design and engineering FAQs
Do I need an architect for my renovation?
Not always. Smaller jobs or cosmetic renovations may not need any design, while larger renovations and extensions usually benefit from an architect or engineer. We’ll recommend the right level of design for your project.
When do I need a structural engineer?
Usually when you’re removing or altering load-bearing walls, adding a storey, building a deck above a certain height or changing foundations. Your engineer designs the structure and signs off that it’s been built correctly.
Can Solvd handle the building consent?
Yes. Our design partners prepare the drawings and documentation, and we manage the application through to approval.
Can I use my own architect?
Yes. We’re happy to build from plans by any architect or designer.
